Don’t panic! Here’s how to open it:

“Pasteurization is a food preservation process in which food is heated to a specific temperature for a defined period of time, then rapidly cooled.”
Unlike sterilization (such as canned foods or traditional jars of tomato sauce), pasteurization preserves the flavour and texture qualities of a dish much more effectively.
Once removed from the oven, our jars are perfectly sealed and can be kept refrigerated for up to 30 days. Important: all meals must be stored in the refrigerator until they are heated and ready to eat.
This means you can keep a small “reserve” of meals in your fridge for busy days, unexpected situations, or moments when you simply don’t feel like cooking, without worrying about food waste!
At Bocobistro, depending on the type of product and ingredients used, our jars are pasteurized so that our meals can keep from 30 days (prepared meals) up to 90 days (soups, terrines, pâtés, sauces, and hummus) from the production date, provided they are stored between 0°C and 4°C.
This means you can order several meals at once without worrying about having to eat them all within the same week! Simply refer to the date indicated on the jar.
We recommend heating and enjoying your meal directly in the jar. Your meal and the jar are designed specifically for that purpose.
If you have a microwave, you can easily reheat your meal by first opening the jar, then placing the glass lid back on without the rubber seal, and heating it for 2 to 3 minutes. Since the jar is made entirely of glass, there is no risk of harmful substances transferring into your food, unlike plastic containers.
You can also heat your meal in a bain-marie for 20 to 25 minutes in a saucepan with simmering water, starting with cool water. In this case, keep the jar sealed.
Do not run cold water over the jar after removing it from the bain-marie, as the glass lid could crack!
The oven is also a great option, especially if you are heating several jars at once.
Place your jars in the oven (preheated to 250°F / 100–120°C) after opening them, then place the glass lids back on without the rubber seals. Heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 250°F. This allows the food to warm gently without overcooking or drying out.
Our jars are very sturdy, so technically they can be frozen without any issue. However, we do not recommend freezing our pasteurized jar meals, as it may affect their flavour and texture quality. We specifically chose pasteurization to allow you to keep the meals refrigerated while preserving their freshness!
If you do decide to freeze them, we recommend doing so at least 3 days before the best before date and consuming them the same day they are thawed in the refrigerator.
